in 1949, the Soviet Union tested its first atomic bomb. It had no way to get it to America. Soviet heavy bombers could easily be intercepted long before they reached the shores of the US. Something else was needed. Once rockets powerful enough to carry an atom bomb to the other side of the world were developed, Sputnik 1 was almost immediately launched. In the case of the US, it is a fact that if you can build a rocket that can successfully place a manned spacecraft onto the moon, you can also build a rocket that can place an atom bomb anywhere on earth. This is something that everyone understood.

Trump’s space force is really just the next level. And not all that surprising.
